The position of General Counsel for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which has been vacant since David Lopez's resignation in 2016, was confirmed by the Senate on August 1.
Sharon Fast Gustafson, an attorney from Arlington, Virginia, will serve a four year term as the EEOC's General Counsel. A solo practitioner, she has advised both employers and employees in employment-related legal matters, including workplace discrimination, wrongful discharge, and matters related to ERISA, the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and Medical Leave Act.
