The New York County Lawyers’ Association (NYCLA) has announced it is seeking nominations of distinguished non-judicial personnel from the New York State courts in Manhattan and distinguished non-judicial personnel from the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, who personify a commitment of service to the courts and the justice system.
In recognition of the outstanding commitment of these support staff to the effective administration of justice, at its annual meeting on May 24, NYCLA will honor these members of the court system who have distinguished themselves in the exemplary performance of their duties during these difficult times of reduced resources and increased caseloads. “During our ongoing investigation on the impact of the judicial budget cuts on the administration of justice, it became clear to the members of NYCLA’s Task Force on Judicial Budget Cuts that the impact would have been considerably more severe were it not for the exemplary performance and dedication of court clerks and other non-judicial personnel,” says Michael Miller co-chair of NYCLA’s Task Force on Judicial Budget Cuts and former NYCLA president. “They are the unsung heroes of the court system and have prevented the impact of the cuts from being even more severe than they were.” Submission deadline for nominations and supporting materials is Friday, April 13. A nomination form and instructions can be found on nycla.org.
