Akin Gump announces that Brittain A. Rogers has joined the firm as a partner in its corporate practice in New York. Mr. Rogers comes to Akin Gump from Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP.
Mr. Rogers represents clients on sophisticated mergers and acquisitions, financing and corporate matters. He was previously a managing director and general counsel of New Fortress Energy, a publicly traded energy infrastructure company, where he advised on all legal aspects of the company’s activities in the United States, the Caribbean, Latin America and other locations around the world. Prior to that, Mr. Rogers was a managing director of Fortress Investment Group, where he served as lead internal counsel for more than $15 billion in completed M&A and financing transactions.
“Britt’s ability to lead complex M&A and financing transactions as well as his deep ties to the investment management industry are a perfect complement to our leading corporate practice,” said Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “His past credit-side work will also resonate loudly with our special situations and financial restructuring clients, and I am delighted to welcome him to Akin Gump.”
“Britt has established himself as an outstanding dealmaker with vast private equity M&A experience,” said Jeffrey Kochian, co-head of Akin Gump’s firmwide corporate practice. “Clients and colleagues alike will value his technical skills as well as the knowledge and perspective he brings from his years spent in in-house roles, particularly amid a growing focus on infrastructure and energy investments. Britt is an ideal fit on our team, and it is great to have him with us.”
Added Mr. Rogers, “Akin Gump enjoys a strong reputation for traditional M&A work and for its leading private equity practice as well as for its deep roots across the investment funds world. I was drawn to the firm because of the opportunities I saw to contribute to the growth of its corporate team by working with its investor client base. This is an exciting move, and I am very happy to be here.”
Mr. Rogers received his J.D. from Columbia Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from Rhodes College.
