Gene is a distinguished international disputes lawyer, handling complex, cross-border legal issues, helping clients achieve their goals in strategic, "bet the company" disputes. A former partner at Arnall Golden Gregory LLP, he also served as an Adjunct Professor at Rutgers School of Law teaching a course in International Litigation in U.S. Courts.
Gene represents clients in cases involving enforcement of arbitral awards and foreign judgments, international fraud and asset recovery, litigations involving foreign states and state-owned entities under the Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act, and cross-border discovery. He is familiar with the principles of establishing or defeating personal jurisdiction over foreign parties, securing stays of litigation based on international arbitration agreements, and applying the forum non conveniens.
Gene has authorized numerous publications on international legal issues and is a sought-after expert interviewed by U.S. and international media. He received his J.D. from Rutgers Law School and a Certificate in International Legal Studies from a McGeorge School of Law program in Salzburg, Austria led by the former Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy. Gene is fluent in Russian and Ukrainian.
