Eve-Christie Vermynck Joins King & Spalding as Partner in London

King & Spalding announced today that technology transactions and data protection lawyer Eve-Christie Vermynck has joined the firm as a partner in its Corporate practice group. She is based in the firm’s London office.

Vermynck’s practice focuses on UK and European technology and intellectual property transactions, data protection and cybersecurity matters. She has extensive experience advising clients on the implementation of projects involving a wide range of technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), digital assets, fintech and biotech, as well as data optimisation and data privacy compliance projects, including in the context of e-discovery involving cross-border regulatory and litigation proceedings. She also regularly advises on cyber preparedness and cyber incident responses in compliance with European data protection and cybersecurity law requirements.

“Eve-Christie has a broad practice that aligns well with our strengths in technology transactions and data privacy and positions us to address cutting-edge legal issues around AI, data protection and the wider digital economy,” said Jonathan Melmed, co-leader of the firm’s Corporate practice group. “Eve-Christie’s experience across the London, Paris and Frankfurt markets – and the fact she is qualified in the UK, France and the US – provides a significant boost to our wider platform.”

Vermynck joins the firm from Skadden in London, where she started and grew the European Tech, IP, Data Protection and Cybersecurity team. She earned an LL.B. from the University of Paris Nanterre, an LL.M. in Intellectual Property & Information Technology from Fordham Law School and a master’s degree from ESCP Business School.

Vermynck is the latest in a string of key recent hires for King & Spalding’s London office, which in May moved to new flagship offices in 8 Bishopsgate. Yesterday, the firm welcomed a five-partner fund finance and ESG team from Cadwalader, which follows other notable lateral hires in 2024, including employment partner Tessa Cranfield, high-yield capital markets partner Peter Schwartz and special counsel and policy advisor Sir Max Hill KC.

“I am thrilled to be joining a global firm that is so invested in expanding its technology industry platform and consolidating its European data, privacy and security practice. These areas have both been identified by King & Spalding as critical growth areas,” said Vermynck. “I look forward to teaming with my new colleagues to raise the firm’s profile in this space and to being a strong contributor to the continuing expansion of the firm’s London office and presence in Europe and the Middle East.”
