With over 20 years of experience in derivatives, commodities, and energy trading in the United States and Latin America, Evan’s expertise spans all asset classes, including energy (oil, natural gas and carbon transition\trading) and commodities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and equities. A highly regarded thought leader, in addition to transactional work Evan also counsels clients on regulatory and compliance issues under the Dodd-Frank Act, and the Commodities Exchange Act and has played an active role in the advocacy and rulemaking process surrounding derivatives regulation.

With a practice that extends beyond derivatives, Evan also represents sovereigns, (including state owned energy companies), financial institutions and corporate borrowers in emerging markets capital markets transactions particularly in the Latin American debt capital markets and also in energy-related transactions. Notably, he has been the lead capital markets lawyer in some of the most recent prominent emerging markets sovereign debt restructurings, such as Ghana and Sri Lanka in 2024 and in the Republic of Ecuador’s successful restructuring in 2020.
