Leaders from The Voice of the Defense Bar (DRI) attended the American Civil Trial Bar Roundtable, held in Washington DC. This invitation-only roundtable hosted a panel of outstanding lawyers and judges who updated attendees on important legislation affecting the civil justice system, provided organization reports and considered resolutions designed to improve the justice system.
DRI immediate past president R. Matthew Cairns, along with DRI second vice president John Parker Sweeney and Richard T. Boyette, former DRI past president, represented DRI. Mr. Boyette also acted as co-facilitator for the American Civil Trial Bar Roundtable.
“This event brought together leaders of preeminent civil litigation organizations to engage in fellowship and to discuss areas of common interest to advance dialogue that drives necessary change,” said Mr. Cairns. Members of various legal organizations who participated in the collaborative roundtable discussion included American Association for Justice; American Bar Association; American Board Of Trial Advocates; American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys; American Inns of Court; Association Defense Trial Attorneys; DRI; Federal Administrative Law Judges Conference; Federal Bar Association; International Association of Defense Counsel; International Academy of Trial Lawyers; International Society of Barristers; National Center for State Courts; National Crime Victim Bar Association and National Judicial College. Mr. Cairns continued to say, “Working with leaders from other organizations demonstrates DRI’s commitment to the causes and issues critical to our peers. Participation in this event is one of the many ways DRI provides value to our members.”
