Save the dates - Wednesday, October 26 through Sunday October 30 -for the Voice of the Defense Bar's blockbuster annual meeting. This years' meeting is at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, 2660 Woodley Road, NW in Washington, DC.
The meeting begins on Wednesday with a board meeting of DRI directors at 8:00 a.m. and the day ends at 6:00 p.m.
Thursday's programs begin at 7:15 a.m. with a leadership breakfast featuring MSNBC correspondent Norah O'Donnell. At 9:00 a.m. the keynote of the day will be a panel discussion on Making Your Case Persuading Judges, with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and Bryan A. Garner, founder and president of LawProse Inc. The day ends at 4:30 p.m.
Friday's sessions begin at 8:00 a.m., and at 9:00 a.m. there will be a keynote address by President Bill Clinton, who will present Embracing Our Common Humanity with moderator Henry M. Sneath of Picadio Sneath Miller & Norton PC. The day ends at 5:15 p.m.
On Saturday, the day begins at 7:30 a.m. and at 1:00 p.m. there is a public service project at the Capital Area Foodbank, where participants can either donate money to the Foodbank or assist in stacking and packing the Foodbank's warehouse. The project will end at 4:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. there will be a President's Gala and Installation Ceremony.
Other notable speakers are Tony Blankely, political pundit and executive vice president of Edleman; John S. Pistole, administrator, Transportation Security Administration; Howard Sklamberg, director of the Office of Enforcement, U.S. Food and Drug Administration; Matthew D. Richtel, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, The New York Times; and George Freeman, vice president and general counsel, the New York Times Company.
