Kirkland & Ellis is excited to announce that leading M&A lawyer Dr. Tobias Larisch will join the Firm as a partner. Dr. Larisch will be based in Frankfurt, where Kirkland will open a new office to support the Firm’s growing transactional practice in Germany.
“As one of Germany’s leading M&A lawyers, Tobias’ expertise and deal experience fit very well within the areas where we see increasing demand for our services,” said Jon A. Ballis, Chairman of Kirkland’s Executive Committee. “Kirkland is known for investing in the practices that matter most to our clients, and Tobias’ hire is a perfect example. Furthermore, opening a Frankfurt office will make available to us a new pool of leading legal talent looking to work on some of the most complex transactions in Germany.”
Dr. Larisch advises leading global private equity firms, infrastructure funds and companies on mergers and acquisitions, public takeovers, joint ventures and carve-outs. He has particular experience in transactions involving the energy and infrastructure sectors and complex transactions involving listed companies. He also has a strong track record advising on cross-border transactions — often with a transatlantic element — for both financial as well as strategic investors.
“Tobias is a terrific attorney and someone whom I respect a great deal,” said Benjamin Leyendecker, a corporate partner in Kirkland’s Munich office. “His arrival deepens our bench in Germany and I’m excited to work with him to serve our clients, build on our momentum in the German market and create a destination office for lawyers practicing in private equity and high-end M&A transactions in Frankfurt.”
Dr. Larisch is recognized as a leading attorney by prominent legal industry publications including JUVE, Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500. He joins Kirkland from Latham & Watkins, where he was a partner.
