Alex Farr Joins Paul Hastings LLP as Partner

Further strengthening its premier global tax practice and Texas platform, Paul Hastings LLP today announced that Alex Farr has joined the firm as a partner in Dallas.

Farr represents private equity funds, portfolio companies, partnerships, and public companies, advising on tax matters in connection with strategic mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations. With significant experience in investment fund formation and structuring, he also advises fund sponsors and limited partner investors.

“The addition of Alex reflects our continued focus on strengthening our market-leading corporate platform with top-tier lawyers that enhance our ability to serve clients on their most critical and complex matters,” said firm Chair Frank Lopez. “It also continues the building of our Texas practice, which remains a strategic priority.”

Farr advises on federal income and international tax planning for complex domestic and international transactions across diverse sectors, including technology, energy, healthcare, and real estate. He also has deep experience advising family offices and high-net-worth individuals on internal tax structuring and transactional matters in industries including sports and entertainment, technology, and hospitality.

“Paul Hastings has an incredible trajectory, and I look forward to working with its talented lawyers to help the firm’s clients achieve their most challenging business goals,” said Farr, who has been recognized by The Legal 500 and joins from McDermott Will & Emery.

Farr is the most recent partner to join in Texas, where he will reunite with former colleagues from Vinson & Elkins and Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, including Paul Genender, chair of the firm’s Texas litigation practice and co-chair of the Dallas and Houston offices.

Paul Hastings has more than doubled the size of its Texas presence over the past six months, an indication of the firm's commitment to the market. Other additions include Chambers-ranked cybersecurity and litigation partner Michelle Reed, who joined from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP; trial and regulatory enforcement partner Manuel Berrelez, who joined from Vinson & Elkins LLP; and a three-partner, seven-lawyer Chambers-ranked corporate team that joined in February from Akin.
